You can look at the internet, arrange for an architect or surveyor to visit the properties, or speak to a real estate agent.
In any case, you don’t have to expect to find the home of your dreams before contacting us. We can study your file before you decide to buy.
Ask yourself the right questions:
Why do I want to buy a property in France? To use your property as a second home? Or with the perspective of settling down in France in the future?
What kind of property do you want to buy? Would you like to live in an old French house in the heart of an old village or a newly built property? What are your must-have features?
When buying a home in France, there are some additional costs to be considered.
If you buy through a real estate agent, you will have to pay estate agent fees. These can be either already included in the purchase price or to be paid separately. Ask your real estate agent for more details.
All the legal aspects of the house purchase are handled by a notary. Those fees are mainly linked to the payment of tax. They represent about 6 to 8% of the purchase price. They will be cashed by a French Notary, who is a “State Officer”.
When you take out a loan to finance your property, the banks will ask you for a guarantee: either a mortgage guarantee or a mortgage insurance.
