About the region
Picardie is located in the northern part of France and is divided by the rivers Somme and Oise. South of the region, at the border with Île-de-France, the area is booming due to the increasing inflow of Parisians relocating to the distant and greener towns of the Oise department. Here one can enjoy the tranquility of the countryside with the knowledge that they are only a stone throw away from Paris.
The weather in Picardy is, cool, windy winters and mild summers with a regular rainfall throughout the year.

Beautiful countryside, cheese and cider – enjoy!
The scenery of Picardy is dominated by agriculture, and the raising of livestock. With beaches in the north, and fields in the south, this peaceful region has much to explore and enjoy.
The history and culture of this region is wide, and varied. It is where Joan of Arc was captured, and handed to the English. It is also home of many medieval churches and World War II battles.
Picardy also offers a choice of regional specialties. These ranges from cheese in the Thiérache region, to foie gras (duck pâté) from Amiens. It also has “ficelle picarde” (savoury picardy style pancakes), Chantilly cream and cider from Bray to name but a few.
