About the region
Normandy is located in the northern region of France and can be split into two sections.
Haute-Normandie (Upper Normandy) consists of the French departments Seine-Maritime and Eure, and Basse-Normandie (Lower Normandy) contains the departments Orne, Calvados, and Manche.
Generally, it has a warm pleasant climate with some rain that accounts for
the green and wooded countryside.

Delicious country food and a dramatic history
The people of Normandy enjoy their food. Norman recipies are usually quite simple in style, but by making use of local dairy produce, and apples, its taste is quite distinct.
An area full of history, it is known to the world as the site of the D-Day battle where “Operation Overlord” took place. In the town of Bayeux there’s the famous “Tapisserie de Bayeux”, a 70 metre long masterpiece representing the conquest of England by William the Conqueror.

Monet’s inspiration
It is also where Monet’s famous garden is situated in Giverny, which inspired many of his paintings. In the seven months that the gardens are open some 500,000 visitors come to this awe-inspiring garden.
On its 600km coastline, there is a range of water sports available such as surfing, and sailing. There are many local clubs set up to help people of all ages, and skill.

Getting there, and property prices
Access to Normandy is easiest by taking a flight to Paris and then a train to Normandy. You can also take the ferry, and with different operators you can find competitive prices.
Whether you prefer the life of a coastal town or the peace and tranquillity of the Norman countryside, it has something for everybody, and could be the perfect place for you.
House prices depend on what you are looking for. Those with a sea or coast view are more expensive than those away from the coast which are more affordable.
