About the region
Located in the north-east of France, Franche-Comté has one million people and comprises four departments – Haute-Saône, Territoire de Belfort, Doubs and Jura. The region has cold dry winters and warm summers, with the occasional rainfall that is typical of Central, and Eastern France. Of course, mountainous regions are cooler all year-round with snow falling in winter.
A natural paradise
If you like nature, you will love the Franche-Comté region with all its waterfalls, rivers, forests and lakes, of which Lac Saint Point, is the best known. You will discover a multitude of different landscapes ranging from Jura’s great snow covered mountains to the plateaux, lakes of Haut Doubs, and the natural farmlands of Bresse.
Getting there, and property prices
Franche-Comté has a good road network and can easily be reached by road or train links from Paris, Geneva and Lyon or by plane thanks to Lyon Saint Exupéry or Mulhouse airports which are all within two hours. The property prices here are higher than average for France.
