About the region
Located in the centre of France, Centre Val de Loire is divided into 6 departments split by France’s longest River, the Loire. It benefits from a continental climate which means cold winters and warm summers.
A river of great beauty and history
From prehistoric human caves to unspoilt Renaissance masterpieces, all situated along the last wild river in Europe, you will find sumptuous and varied landscapes. Due to its fertility and many castles which belonged to the old lords of France. Val de Loire is ranked highly by UNESCO.
In Central Loire Valley, you can enjoy strolling though the countryside, discovering châteaux and palaces and savouring the exquisite and renowned wines of the Loire Valley such as Sancerre, Bourgueil or Reuilly to name just a few.
Getting there, and property prices
Loire Valley is easy to reach by motorways and TGV trains from the capital Paris, Poitiers and Bordeaux. In the Indre and Cher departments you’ll find some of France’s cheapest houses but prices are rising for those that are close to the main towns.
