Situated in the north-west of France, Brittany or Bretagne as it is called in French is surrounded by the sea. It consists of four departments: Côtes-d'Armor, Ille-et-Vilaine, Morbihan and Finistère. It’s a great maritime region with an oceanic climate which means warm, and mild temperatures. The main language is French but you can also hear some traditional Celtic Breton spoken.
Well known for its harbours and islands, Bretagne has 2000 years of history, with corsairs, pirates, and Gallic tribesmen. It’s the perfect place for people who love the sea.
